The latest version of “Mario Kart” is loosely based off older versions. While you will find some things that are familiar, these classic aspects have been improved upon. The cars and the characters are still goofy but isn’t that what makes playing Mario titles fun? Take this Mario Kart for a spin and see what ya think.
Overall: 8.7
Presentation: 8.5
Mario kart comes with Wii steering wheel that your controller slides into to make game play easier and a bit more realistic (can you imagine driving with something that looks like a stick of butter?) The characters look top notch and there are several to choose from.
Graphics: 8.5
The graphics are good. Let’s face it you didn’t buy the Wii for the graphics did ya? Never the less if you are a graphics freek (like me) you will NOT be disappointed.
Sound: 8.5
The sound quality great. Whether it is the opening greeting “Mario Kart Wii!!!” when you hit the start button, the corny tunes from the Mario world or the dreaded Beep Beep of the heat seeking Red Turtle shell you are sure to be entertaining your ears.
Gameplay: 9
This game doesn’t take very long to get used to. Once your up and running this game can provide hours of fun whether you are racing offline by yourself or online with your friends or other gamers from all over the world. Players have the option of racing with either cars or bikes. Players can also choose their personalized Mii characters in addition to those favorite classic Nintendo characters found in the game. Yoshi anyone?
Replay Value: 9
There is a lot of fun to be had racing. There is definitely replay value to the game on or offline. The races get heated at times especially when you have been knocked of the course by someone and go from 1st to 12th in a nano second. It doesn’t matter if it is 10 am or 2am you will find yourself saying “I still got time for ONE more race”.
