I played the demo of Resident Evil 5 and hated it. Having to be a statue while shooting felt fine in Resident Evil IV but now it feels very dated. We have Gears of War and Call of Duty and most importantly, Dead Space. All of them feel better, more fluid. Resident Evil 5 throws cement on your feet. Even the walking and running aspects of the game feel poorly done.
With all that being said, I rented the game so I could play with a friend (Jdsblackbox). I figured I’d get an hour or two in and the poor controls would make me throw in something fun. I was wrong. This game is great. Your inventory carries over from game to game so you can go and replay the earlier levels to collect ammo and the like and even when I’m grinding it out for ammo, I enjoy it. Right now I’m at work typing about it and wishing I was home killing zombies.
It’s a flawed game. The controls could be better. But it’s very fun. So if you’re like me and hated the controls, it’s still worth giving it a shot.

I’m definitely on the “I hate the controls” side. Might give the game a chance, but not anytime soon. Maybe when it goes down in price in the future.
Playing Killzone 2 and The Show right now anyway. Thanks for giving your thoughts though and giving me hope that the controls are something you can look past eventually. I mean, I did love RE4.
Might be a perfect rental. We didn’t play long and we’re 2/3 through the game. There’s some replayability but not that much. If you played RE4 once or twice, that’s a good gage .
Nice read Tilt! Im going to dive into this game tonight. I have to pick up my replacement Xbox in a few!
Father Tocks forgives you too Tilt.
Definately will be next on my rental list.
Ok I can officially say I’m on the Hate list for RE5. However I see alot of my friends on live playing the game so it can’t be that bad. I will rent it when my block buster gets it in. RE4 was a great and being a RE fan I should at least play the 5th. But it is no longer survival horror.
I’m pretty sure the controls in RE5 are different then the demo. I don’t remember being able to strafe to the sides in the Demo version.
I used to be in the against RE5 as but my friend and I picked it up for some good old fasioned Co-Op gameplay and we’ve been having a blast.
My only complaint is that the game isn’t really that scary. Maybe it’s because i’m older or the fact that I was spoiled by Dead Space, but Resident Evil 5 doesn’t have that same great terror factor that I remember from my time with the first 3 games.
Don’t you miss when it was a survival horror game instead of a 28 days later simulation?
I expected RE with better graphics and co-op. Thats what I got. I’m happy. Not to mention the best looking pixelated jubblies this side of DOA volleyball…
