GamerHusbands Episode One Seventy Eight :: Going Panda

July 22nd, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

We kind of let loose on this Episode and went a different direction. This is Episode 178 of the GamerHusbands lifecast. It’s summertime, and we wanted to share a bit about our summer and some of the fun things we’ve been doing.(that’s what she said!) Our journey goes a little bit off track and stays there for the duration of the show. A quick rundown of that madness; If you had a Celebrity “Hall Pass,” who would be in your Top 5?  Why does Alfred love Man-Face women? When you watch a movie with your wife, is it always a “Romantic Comedy?” Sam and Alfred talk about their summer dates to the movies. Sam also tests out his brand new State-of-the-Art Movie Summer review system, and let’s us know which movies are sleeper hits! The madness ensues on Episode 178 of GamerHusbands Radio. Enjoy.

P.S.  Going Panda = a podcasting colloquialism refferring to the hosts drinking alcoholic beverages and becoming inebriated as the show commences. This phrase was termed by IGN’s GameScoop Podcast.

Gamerhusbands One Seventy Five :: THE A TEAM

July 6th, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

One of our biggest shows ever. 3 Shows are being represented in this episode. The show is divided into two parts. Games and Relationships. We are getting back to our namesake…….you guessed it, Gamerhusbands. The community added in some questions for the relationship segment. We get real honest, so if you aren’t a fan of good honest relationship talk, then turn the show off after the games segment. I personally feel this is one of our best shows.

Episode One Seventy Three :: Eii U

June 10th, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

This is arguably one of the best E3′s that we have ever wintessed. All of the big three had to bring out some of their best, and we spend a show talking about. What was the best of show? What was the worst? We talk about it. Infamous has found a place in Alfred’s heart, and Sam brags about another Halo:Reach Killstreak. We are joined by one of our writers, Kevin(Shonuff), and he has a lot of great insight on E3 and the direction the industry is heading in. This is a must listen show, so enough talking. Get to downloading

How unofficial is the Modern Warfare 3 leak?

May 15th, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

The details of Modern Warfare 3 have  been unofficially leaked, according to an article in Kotaku. Activision hasn’t even  released the name  of the upcoming successor in the Call of Duty franchise. The  name, Modern Warfare 3, was part of the leak.  In recent years, the Cod franchise has been the most important franchise in gaming history. Last year’s iteration, Call of Duty: Black Ops  grossed over 1 billion dollars in revenue.

The source of the leak is questionable and Activision is not excluded from the lists of culprits. In the era of the 24 hour news cycle, PR could be the life or death of a game. THQ’s Homefront moved over 1 million units its first week following a successful ad campaign. A great way to generate some  buzz is to unofficially release details of the most anticipated title for 2011. Many of the game’s locales and multiplayer maps have been exposed in a way reminiscent of an official release. Some of the details that were leaked include(don’t worry, I won’t spoil): The single player campaign being rumored to continue after the Russian invasion of America in Modern Warfare II andSpec Ops  receiving new modes. Players can also expect more perks and modes in the multiplayer dept. With the depth of details that were leaked, is this Activision’s way of releasing details and not having to field questions concerning the game? Since the leak was  “unofficial,” this protects IW from any responsibility.  Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist Robert Bowling clears some of the confusion up on his twitter account.

“A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on #MW3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I’d wait for the real reveal.”

Or maybe not. But he does concede that some of the details are true.

November is now the month for confetti and party hats, because it is unofficially Call of Duty’s birthday and fans  will line up in droves to buy Modern Warfare 3. With Battlefield 3 stealing the spotlight, this leak seems like an unofficial attempt to turn the spotlight towards Soap MacTavish. EA, like Manny Pacquiao, is challenging MW3 to the ring, but the once great champion, Activision,  has been relegated to unofficially releasing details on how great its next fight is going to be.

March 31st, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

On this episode of GamerHusbands Radio we invite special guest VicJoh from Open Forum Radio’s The 40 Cast. Since it is no surprise that VicJoh is a Nintendo fanboy, we had to get the play-by-play on his Sunday morning pilgrimage to Gamestop hunting for a 3DS. Vic also talks about the most evil phrase in the gaming industry……TRADE INS! We have a lot of fun this week, and cover a good bit of games. We give you some in depth first impressions of the 3DS courtesy of our guest. If you’re wondering will Crysis 2 measure up to other console shooters, then tune in to the show for our unbiased review. Sam is relentless in his quest to prove THQ hypnotized him to buy Homefront. He spends another week storming the beaches, while Alfred argues that THQ won’t be hurt by homefront’s issues. Lots of things were covered this week. Strap yourself in and push tray tables to the front, because we’re embarking on another wild ride as the guys jump down the rabbit hole again.

Serena’s Super Sexy Top Spin Add

March 24th, 2011
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

For some reason unbeknown-st to the gaming community, 2k games decided not to run one of their adds featuring Serena Williams and an un-named actress. Now, to be fair, this stuff happens all of the time for various reason. Games cut out sections and re-release them later as downloadable content. Advertisers make multiple commercials-ads and targets specific demographics. Not all commercials make it to the public. People shouldn’t begin demanding a witch trial for 2 scantily clad women using the move controller. This is nothing more than a Victioria’s Secret commercial with a video game backdrop.
