The Reason for Gran Turismo 5’s delay….Perfection

January 18th, 2010
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

Delay has been the common denominator often associated with Gran Turismo 5 since it’s announcement a few years ago.  After 5 years of development, Spring 2010 was slated to be the official release of Sony’s top selling franchise. Uh…Wait, It’s just been delayed again. Before everyone begins to pick up rocks in an effort to stone Sony, the light should be shown on the creator of the game.  Kazunori Yamauchi’s perfection my be the main culprit in the delays.  His tireless pursuit for perfection is fascinating, and most gamers aren’t aware of the how much of the developer’s soul goes into each game.

Necromorphs aren’t waving the white flag. EA confirms Dead Space 2

December 7th, 2009

deadspace2

Fighting through endless hordes of the undead dead. Watching his friends die horrific deaths, only to come back alive and attack him.  These are challenges that our tragic-heroine, Isaac Clarke, faced on the USG Ishimura. After defeating the Necromorphs he took a breather to recollect on the experience.  As soon as he put the plasma cutter down,  his H.U.D. displays a message from E.A. saying it’s time to gear up for, Dead Space 2.

“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of necromorphs that need killing!” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 2. “In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

Isaac’s journey is just beginning!

Jay-Z to take over the game industry next!

October 26th, 2009

Jayzdjhero

Jay-s isn’t just a cover artist for DJ Hero, he’s a gamer too. NyMag finds out the details on Hov’s gaming history and how he plans on turning his DJ Hero skills into a profitable business venture. In his past, he didn’t just annihilate rival rappers, he also pulled a Bill Belichick and ran up the score against his nephews on sports games.

“My nephews ain’t beat me they whole entire life, until now. They can destroy me now. But I’d never let them cause that mean they controlled the household. I would just beat them mercilessly. By a hundred. Let them build up character. Suck it up, kid. You know, dunk on ‘em, do different plays. Ty Ty, who’s my guy, we he had this long-standing battle. This was like Lakers versus Celtics, the early live games That’s when Michael Jordan used to helicopter [dunk], all this type of stuff. And I would just destroy him. I’d torture him. I was that guy. I’d just be talking halfway though: “Man, are you gonna play harder? Are you just gonna let me beat you by 75?””

Later on he talks about his future as a DJ

“I think after a year with DJ Hero I’m gonna start D.J.-ing parties like Q-tip and all those guys. I already got a whole plan: I’m gonna work on this for a year, then I’m gonna get me a little Serato set, work on that for another six months. Then I’m gonna find out who makes the most. I’m gonna charge double that. I’m gonna do a tour, bar mitzvahs, weddings. I’m gonna have like video … I’m telling ya’ll, ’cause I don’t want nobody stealing my idea … I’m gonna have, like, video behind me. Dancers. I’m gonna have people pour champagne when I get to a certain song. I’m gonna make a whole show of this thing.”

Followers of Jay-Z should definitely take a look at this article for Jay-Z’s opinions on the current state of the music industry and how it’s in danger of making mistakes of the past. He took a stance against the detriment of Auto this year, by releasing, “Death of Autotune,”  as his first single on the Blueprint 3. Here’s a link to his Blueprint 3 album. Thanks Elliot “YN” Wilson for posting this on RapRadar!

Forza 3 – Disc 2

October 3rd, 2009
By: Alfred "GHR Maverick"

forza3reventon

For the Forza 3 fanatics, here is some more juicy goodness to satisfy your appetite. 2 will be included in our copy of Forza 3, and it has been a mystery surrounding the content on the second disc. The Forzamotorsport.net forums have been ablaze with the news. Here’s what we know so far;

DISC 1

  1. 300 Cars
  2. Most of the Environments

DISC 2

  1. 1.9 GB of space total
  2. 100 Cars
  3. 29 Tracks

Pros/Cons

  1. Disc 1 is considered the “complete” game
  2. Disc 2 is considered “Extra” Content
  3. Disc 2 content has to be “installed” on the hard-drive
  4. Disc 2 content doesn’t have to be installed at once. It can be installed in packs
  5. 4. Players that don’t have hard drives won’t be able to play the content from Disc 2, including multiplayer games.

There is a huge downside to this news, considering that many players will be cut off from the extra content. The players that don’t have hard drives will be limited to disc 1. There really shouldn’t be any sad faces since Disc 1 has so much content packed in, and most players won’t even exhaust that. The beauty in this game is the custom paint jobs and the Auction House.  I would be happy with a Ford Pinto, as long as it has a cool paint job. Of course,  Blu-Ray 3 fanboys are laughing since the Blu-Ray disc could hold all of the Forza content. “when is GT5 releasing?” “keep enjoying Prologue, that $40 dollar demo.” I kid, I kid. I make jokes, but I will be purchasing Gran Turismo 5 Day 1(D1C). I’m glad that I don’t have to buy 2 racing sims this year. Thank you Polyphony Digital.  Click on the jump to see one of the packs on Disc 2. If you want full details on Disc 2, check out IGN’s coverage of it. Many thanks to Hilary Goldstein for getting this information to the masses.
