Legacy. Webster defines the word as follows: Something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor, or from the past. Ninja Gaiden is a series of action brawlers designed and produced by Team Ninja of Tecmo. Under the design leadership of the series creator Tomonobu Itagaki, Ninja Gaiden has become the gold standard for all 3D 3rd person brawlers, due to its precise control schemes, and thumb numbing difficulty.

Now, Team Ninja has bestowed upon the gaming world, the third installment of this series – sans Itagaki and those core employees that laid the foundation for the greatest action brawler series ever made. Were they successful in building on that legacy take the series to new heights, or did they drag it down to the depths of Ninja Dog-dom?
